— project 2025
This project was delivered as part of mySmall Business Website Design service, combining custom WordPress development, targeted on-page SEO, and bespoke API integration.
Problem
The existing website design on GeorgieEats.co.uk no longer reflected the client’s evolving brand identity or visual direction. Layout inconsistencies, outdated typography, and a rigid category structure made the site feel cluttered and harder to navigate, particularly on mobile devices.
The site was also built on a WordPress theme that was no longer supported by its original developer, limiting flexibility and increasing the risk of breaking functionality during updates. In addition, the client needed a better way to showcase and monetise recommended products from their Amazon store without relying on manual updates or static links.
Solution
Working from a detailed visual brief provided by the client’s designer, I carried out a full style refresh within the existing theme framework. I refined spacing and alignment, restyled buttons and hover states, updated fonts, and adjusted the colour palette, including introducing a new arrow cursor colour to match the refreshed brand. I also reorganised the category hierarchy, added new widgets, and applied targeted on-page SEO improvements, all while preserving core functionality.
Alongside the design updates, I developed a custom Amazon Storefront API integration. This connects directly to Amazon and dynamically pulls products from Georgie’s Amazon storefront into the website. The system allows products to be displayed and updated automatically, keeping recommendations current without manual content management. This approach improves performance, maintains visual consistency, and supports a smoother user experience compared to standard affiliate embeds.
All changes were implemented with responsiveness, accessibility, and site stability in mind.
Result
Despite the limitations of an outdated theme, the refreshed website now aligns closely with the client’s updated visual identity. The design is cleaner, more cohesive, and easier to navigate, especially on mobile devices.
The addition of the custom Amazon Storefront API gives the client a scalable and low-maintenance way to integrate product recommendations into their content. The client appreciated the attention to detail, the quality of execution, and the ability to extend the site’s functionality while working within existing technical constraints.
