This project was delivered as part of my Small Business Website Design service. It involved custom WordPress development that preserved the organisation’s existing visual identity, while also introducing a new homepage the site had previously been missing.
Problem
This WordPress migration project for Reteach.org.uk addressed the limitations of an outdated custom codebase. The existing system made content updates slow and difficult, requiring developer involvement for even minor changes. Adding new pages or adjusting content was inefficient and costly.
As a non-profit organisation, the Reteach team needed a more sustainable and cost-effective solution. They wanted greater independence, an easy-to-use content management system, and the ability to manage their website internally without relying on ongoing developer support.
Solution
I carried out a full WordPress migration, moving the entire website onto the WordPress platform while replicating the existing design 1:1 to maintain visual continuity and brand consistency.
Key custom functionalities were rebuilt using a combination of custom code and carefully selected open-source WordPress plugins. This ensured all core features could now be managed directly from the WordPress admin dashboard. I also added three new pages as part of the migration, without introducing additional developer costs.
To support long-term sustainability, I advised on and configured a reliable, budget-friendly hosting provider suited to a non-profit organisation. The migration process included a complete backup and safety plan, ensuring all content and functionality were preserved without risk.
Result
Following the WordPress migration, the Reteach team now has full control over their website through a flexible and easy-to-manage backend. They can update content, add new pages, and manage site features independently, without technical barriers.
The project reduced long-term costs, improved daily workflows, and gave the organisation a more sustainable digital foundation. As an NGO, Reteach.org.uk now operates on a platform that supports their mission, budget, and need for autonomy.
