Modern Care Home Website Design & UX for Better Engagement

— project 2024

Problem

The care home website design needed to communicate trust, professionalism, and warmth to families researching care options for their loved ones. Because choosing a care home is an emotionally sensitive decision, the website had to feel calm, welcoming, and easy to understand from the first visit.

There was no existing design, content structure, or accessibility framework in place. The client required guidance on visual identity, content tone, page structure, and user experience, with a strong focus on clarity, readability, and inclusive access for all users.

Solution

I designed the full care home website design concept in Figma, starting with accessible page structure, clear user journeys, and a content strategy focused on reassurance and transparency. The visual language uses soft, calming colours, high-contrast combinations, and clean typography to support readability for users of all ages and abilities.

Accessibility was considered throughout the design process. Page layouts feature clear heading hierarchies, generous spacing, large interactive elements, and intuitive navigation to reduce cognitive load and improve usability. Calls to action are written in simple, descriptive language and positioned consistently across the site.

Each page includes well-defined content sections, such as care services, testimonials, facilities and amenities, frequently asked questions, and clear next steps. Key calls to action, including “Book a Visit”, “Request a Call Back”, and “Explore Our Rooms”, are placed thoughtfully to support engagement without pressure.

The design prioritises clarity over complexity, ensuring that information can be easily scanned, understood, and accessed by both users and assistive technologies.

Result

The final care home website design delivers a calm, accessible, and professional digital presence that supports families during an important decision-making process. Prospective residents and their families can quickly understand services, feel reassured, and take action at their own pace.

The layout and user experience are structured to encourage meaningful engagement while respecting emotional sensitivity. The client valued the accessibility-led approach, clear information architecture, and the way the design balances conversion goals with care, trust, and inclusivity.
